Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation

The intended ideals of femininity are symmetrical, firm and round. Unfortunately this often isn’t the case in reality. Too small, too large or saggy – few women are satisfied with their natural breasts. It is for this reason that around 10,000 women in England lend nature a hand and undergo breast surgery every year.

From the age of 25, the breasts begin to lose their tautness due to weight fluctuations, hormones, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. This is perfectly natural, but still a problem. The shape of a woman’s breasts can have a huge impact on her self-esteem.

Using implants to enlarge small breasts is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries for women (roughly 80% of all breast procedures).

Usually round or anatomically shaped silicone breast implants are used for augmentations. Many women are scared that the implants may burst or leak. There is no need to worry though. Modern implants are filled with a firm, cohesive gel whose thickness prevents it from leaking.

Our surgeons only use ISO standard implants from Mentor (USA), Polytech-Silimed (Germany) or Eurosilicone (France) that feature the CE stamp and an ID number to guarantee you maximum safety. Patients will be given a pass containing all important information on their implants after surgery.

Overview of the procedure

Do not undergo surgery if …

Your skin is too thin, or there is a history of breast cancer in your family.

Pre-operative check-up

The pre-operative check-up complies with the European standard requirements within the framework of preparation for an anaesthetic.
Click here to download the protocol for the clinical report. Please print out a copy and bring it along with you to your local doctor, an internal specialist, who can enter the results of your haemogram, etc. The clinical report must not be older than 2 weeks.

The pre-operative check-up can be completely performed in the Czech Republic.

Incision made along the breast crease (inframammary)
An incision of about 4 cm in length is made along the breast crease. The implant is either placed above or beneath the breast muscle. Scars are virtually invisible later on.
Advantage: The glandular tissue will be spared; natural feeling and the ability to breastfeed will be preserved.

Incision made in the armpit (transaxillary)

An incision of 3-5 cm in length is made in the armpit. The surgeon uses special instruments to prepare the implants for accurate positioning. The scars will only be visible if the patient raises their arms.
Advantage: No scars around the breast area. The glandular tissue will not be affected.

Incision made around the areolae (infra-areola/transareola)

Infra-areola incision: the incision is made along the lower part of the areolae.
Transareola incision: the incision passes right across the areolae.
The areolae’s colouration can cover the incision. Usually the patient is left with very small and barely visible scars.
This procedure is used for patients with large areolae (min. diameter of 3.7 cm), or if the breast crease must be repositioned.

Accessing the breasts through the areolae means the central mammary ducts can be spared, meaning patients are still able to breastfeed. Implants will be placed above or beneath the muscle.

Silicone and/or saline implants.
Only EU-certified implants from the following manufacturers are used:
Polytech Silimed (
Mentor  (
Eurosilicone (

Shape: round or anatomically shaped (drop-shaped)
Difference between round or anatomically shaped implants: modern breast implants differ in width, height and volume. Using round implants will result in a dominant breast volume in the upper area. Drop-shaped implants underline the body’s natural and optically harmonious silhouette.

There is a lifetime warranty for the exchange of Polytech Silimed implants. Product warranty for the various brand implants

Cell-assisted lipotransfer

Liposuction is used e.g. on your stomach or thighs. After processing the adipose tissue in special laboratories, it will be injected with the adipose-derived stem cells directly into the breasts. This procedure offers permanent results retaining 85-90% of the enriched volume. The patient’s breasts increase up to two cup sizes.
Specialists: Dr. med. Peter Chovan and Dr. med. Andrea Musilova

Adipose tissue extracted using liposuction is concentrated to enhance the count of vital cells per unit. Using the PureGraft method results in retention of up to 70% of the injected volume. Sometimes a second procedure is needed to gain the perfect result. The patient’s breasts increase up to one - two cup sizes.
Specialists: Dr. med. Peter Chovan and Dr. med. Andrea Musilova
