Prague is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, as the New York Times maintains. Visitors have raved about it for centuries. The nickname “Golden City” has been quoted time and time again with good reason. Since the time of Charles IV when the very first universities were established here, Prague has been a centre of art and culture shaped by generations of rulers and builders. Today the unique city buildings from centuries past unite to form a harmonious whole.

The sights are dotted along the river Vltava, and are connected by a total of 16 bridges. Hradcany Castle (the castle district), Lesser Town, Josefov (former Jewish quarter), the old and new towns were once independent cities. Today they form the centre of a city whose modern suburbs sprawl out around it.

The Golden City beside the Vltava affords very special charm. Immersed in history, you will take a step back in time. A wide diversity of sights are on offer: the Old Town Hall tower and Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, Hradcany Castle, the birthplace of Franz Kafka, and Týn Cathedral whose silhouette ominously dominates the historic district – these are Prague’s most famous sights, which simply must be paid a visit. The well-preserved city centre, historic buildings, winding alleys in the old town, Charles Bridge from which breathtaking views can be enjoyed, and of course Prague’s mighty castle that presides majestically over the city.

The centre of Prague is characterised by art nouveau and cubism. The Wenceslas Square, National Museum, monument to patron saint Wenceslas and Peterka House, which was built in 1899 by renowned architect, Jan Kotera, all testify to this.

Prague is IN: cosy rustic pubs, extravagant shopping districts, stylish clubs and bars – all this can be found in Prague. There are countless shops, boutiques and shopping centres to browse – offering excellent prices!

After a trip to Prague, your mind will be so full of fantastical stories about this city when you return home that the boundaries between reality, history and legend will be blurred. This city is so mystical and fascinating that those who have visited once will always be eager to return.
